A recent Chinese study has found patients who were hospitalized with Covid 19 are still suffering a variety of symptoms even after 6 months of getting cured from the infection They are experiencing lack of sleep, sleep difficulties, fatigue, pain in body and other symptoms. The study was conducted on more than 1,700 patients treated in the Wuhan city, China, the epicenter of Covid-19.
The study says 76 percent of them could experience at least 1 symptom even months after they were discharged. The researchers say the patients are suffering from long lasting health impacts. It is the largest study that has been carried on this subject.
The most common post Covid 19 symptoms are the sleeping difficulties and fatigue. 63 percent of them were suffering from fatigue while 23 percent are going through sleeping disorders. The study also found that the disease has also left the patients with long-lasting psychological complications like anxiety and depression. 23 percent of patients claimed the same.
According to the researchers, Covid 19 is a new disease in the world thus they are still beginning to understand what are its complications during and post getting infected. Some patients who were severely ill showed on X rays of lung damage.
The analysis indicated that most of the patients are left with some effect of the virus after they left the hospital. They needed post discharge care especially those who had severe infections. More longer follow up studies are planned in larger populations in the coming future so that the doctors and researchers understand the full spectrum of effects Covid 19 has on humans.
