The coronavirus pandemic has introduced many problems and issues in people’s lives. One major issue that has surfaced is the deterioration of mental health. The announcement of the launch of the Covid-19 vaccines has introduced a ray of hope in people’s lives.
It is quite possible to manage physical risks with vaccines but mental health will remain a major issue for people in 2021. Mental issues are gripping people due to the fear of illness, economic crisis, and a shortage of supplies.
Even the coronavirus outbreak date has completed one year, still it is not easy for people to bring their mental health on track. Lisa Carlson, the past president of the American Public Health Association has expressed her views on this subject.
According to her, it is quite easy to see the physical aspects of the pandemic but it is difficult to spot its implications on mental health. Carlson said that we can’t use a vaccine for treating mental health issues like we can choose to treat our physical health with the help of a vaccine.
So, it would take a long time to completely overcome the mental health issues satisfactorily. And people will continue to face mental struggles even after the completion of the process of inoculation.
The introduction of new financial hardships and other challenges has made it difficult for people to deal with mental stress easily. Due to isolation, people of all age groups are missing out on an opportunity to socialize and it makes them feel lonely.
